Well done Bangladesh !

In Cricket, World cup on March 11, 2011 at 11:55 pm

Two tweets, that completely describe the England-Bangladesh match.

Mpumelelo Mbangwa tweets, “Well done Bangladesh! Just walked into the lounge to see the winning runs…who would have thought this after the 54 all out.”

Castrol rating of Bangladesh

Harsha Bhogle tweets, “well done bangladesh.you showed the strength to overcome “that” day.i feared you might crumble under weight of expectations.you didn’t.”

Michael Vaughan corrects his tweet, “Still wear your helmet lads.. To hide yourself from anyone seeing you..”

Castrol rating of England

Whatever the stats say for the Zimbabwe former cricketer turned commentator but the words are apt for BD. Nobody would have thought BD would come back with BANG!…Boom! After 54 all-out, even English team would have termed them as One day wonder. It would have definitely made them complacent. Foe they played like they have already won the match against BD. English team finally paid price for their complacency.

The English team is tumbling down the hole. Their performance in this edition of World Cup has been better against good teams, as they defeated South Africa and almost defeated India. But their worst performances came against so-called weak teams. 3 wickets loss against Ireland, and 2 wickets loss against Bangladesh. In both these circumstances, English bowlers failed to contain rival batsmen. As Ireland went up to pile up 300 runs to chase England’s 327 and today Bangladesh after having suffered 54 all out in earlier match, came back well. It was Bangla tail that wagged in the end and wagged to finish the game in style.

English team have to do exceptionally well from here to keep their hope alive. While Bangladesh team, as Harsha tweeted, have overcome their fear of ‘that day‘. They have done extremely well today and need few more push ups to cross the barrier.

best of luck !!!

  1. wasnt that a brilliant match. BD has come a LONG way..the bangladesh team of old would just give up….proud of them.

  2. So true… They have changed the scheme of things in this group. England – played like assholes 😐

  3. Reminds me of the Sri Lankan performance in 1996. One of my work mates was from there and I asked him if he’d put a bet on – He said no. I said ‘Well you should, I think they’re going to win it’ They did. I think Bangladesh are building a performance and who knows what could happen – Good luck to them πŸ™‚

    • πŸ˜€ nice… No wonder if they continue dispatching sides like England, they might have a chance … πŸ™‚ But in 96, Sri lankans were in form or they changed the way cricket was being played. Their tactics came off very well which no other team anticipated. Hence..the winners… But the analogy is not true for BD, ryt? they aren’t doing anything differently.
Thanks for coming by and sharing your views, Martin πŸ™‚

  4. This why Cricket is such an enjoyable..any of the 3 results in possible..just have to wait till the very end..

England in this WC has already provided us mind boggling games…I want them to make it QF..Thrills Guaranteed πŸ˜€

As of Bangla Tigers.. They keep doing this.. πŸ™‚

  5. There is some talk here that England are tired and that they are not really a one-day team. I guess that bits is true. Test matches are fine and they’ll do okay (see Ashes) but we need to develop and specific one-day team to play a different game. Anyway, that’s the talk……….as far as I can see, it’s all about hitting the ball and not getting out, isn’t it ?!

    • πŸ™‚ appreciate the effort by English cricket board. but it can be disastrous if the new breed of talents are missing.
And Al, Sometime hitting the ball and not getting out is penance for the team. See wat MSD did in Match against England and What Sunil gavaskar once did. He scored 36 runs while playing 50 overs. πŸ™‚
