What you do, when you have the block?

In Anecdotes, Blog, Inspiration, Tips n Tricks, Writing on October 22, 2012 at 12:01 am

Let me start with an anecdote. In the dead of night, I received a call from a very good friend of mine. This friend of mine, let me tell you is way better than me in blogging arena. In fact I stand no where in front of him. I was telling, I received the call from him and what I heard him telling  “Dude  I’m having the writers block, what next?”  Next moment I found myself googling writer’s block.

Well, I do not deny having the same feeling but never knew having a technical term for that feeling, Writer’s Block, wow ! I went through several blog reading  through this block term and literally found some inspiring  articles.

I have tried my ways to overcome these block feelings. I just take my fountain pen and a sheet of paper and write incessantly for 5 minutes. i just don’t think. I write, whatever comes to mind. I go with flow. not thinking just writing. Sometime it makes me feel like writing more and sometime it gives me few ideas to think over it and do some blog post writing.  Let me tell you the truth, once I tried writing a blog post in that 10 min block time and after ward when I read it, I was surprised. Here’s the post.  How good can u actually write when you are writing from a sub conscious mind rather writing the other way (at least my standard of writing). I admit, I’m naïve in this business of writing, but writing interests me. And I’m sure it will get better with Time. BOL! 🙂

Finally…

  • Write like you’ll live forever
  • Write like you’ll croak today
  • Write.
    Write more.
    Write even more.

BOOKS – YOUR THE BEST FRIENDS

In Blog, Books on October 6, 2012 at 8:00 am

English: Five young men sit clustered closely ...

Off late the reading habit had taken a back seat and all work … but the frenzied mind wanted some peace of mind and what else then to read something… fortunate enough i got some advice from fellow readers, bloggers and got hold of few books. One of them is the Krishna key. it was supplied by Blogadda.com – a blog community which offers books to bloggers to write their review. And trust me it was definitely a nice read. I shall update the review of the book in a day or two… Currently it is saved in draft and needs a rework.

Secondly, I had ordered two books from flipkat.com. 1) Indispensable 2) the long tail. About the second book, I had read an extract about it in my friend’s new venture… summarytown.com (a wonderful website to read to the point abstract. do refer to it). And it got me interested and i booked a copy. Before I start this, I need to read indispensable when the leaders really matter by gautam mukunda, published by Harvard Business review press. The first few pages has caught me in it..The thing which caught my attention is the simplicity of the words in which he has tried to explain the complex issues… I shall soon update my blog readers about this wonderful book.

Till then

happy reading!

Easy reading is damn hard writing.Nathaniel Hawthorne

Many people have a common (mis) conception, that those who write heavy and loaded words in their sentences are damn good writer. I do have. However, writings which are easy to read are rare. It’s because such writings are damn hard to write.
