The hundred ton is still a dream for crores of Indian fans. It’s not that he legend doesn’t want another record in his name but fate gave him another miss this time. The first inning was disaster for each batsmen in the Indian side. But the second inning was disaster for sachin ramesh tendulkar. The way he was judged Leg before wicket has again raised doubt on the decision-making of the umpires.  However the dubious decisions have long been chasing Sachin in particular. There have been several occasion when he has faced similar situation and like a gentleman he had gladly accepted the wrong decisions.

The question  “man versus machine” has come again on the forefront. TV replay clearly showed that the ball was leaving leg stump but the umpire thought otherwise. Sachin was clearly aggrieved with the decision but the gentleman, he is, left the field accepting the decision of the umpire.

Use of technology and the decision-making in the game of cricket has been a long pending issue. The innovative use of technology had been greatly welcome in T-20 matches. lets See how long does it takes to be adopted in Classical cricket.

Indian team as usual has been performing badly at foreign pitches. Alas this time “The Wall” & the ‘Very very Special” has been lax this time. The new test caps like Virat kohli has been disappointing.  This 3rd test match between India & Australia is tilted in Aussies favour until unless any miracle happens.

India’s World Cup saga

In Cricket, Pictures, Sports, World cup on April 2, 2011 at 11:59 pm

What a feeling. I had goose bumps when I saw them crying. Finally  WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS.

India had to win this match. It was the best gift entire nation could have given to the Maestro for his probably 😉 last world cup.

I had been criticizing the team and its performances especially bowling in this entire tournament. But the boys rose to every occasion. Bowling in the last three matches Indian team played were off course better than what had been in the rest of tournament. Srilankan team played equally well in the tournament, it was a bad day for them. But what finally counts is the cup.

And we are the CHAMPIONS.

INDIA won the cricket World Cup 2011

We are the CHAMPIONS

Diwali and Eid came early this year

In Cricket, World cup, Writing on March 31, 2011 at 8:13 am

So against all odds, India made it to the final of the world cup. But it’s CELEBRATIONS all around, every nook and corner of India.

Records are still straight, India has managed to get over Pakistan , even in this edition of world cup. Out of 5 world cup encounters between the two Asian Lions, India has kept it straight 5 of 5.

However, prior to the match I was very skeptic about the outcome of the match. I had my own concerns. (Read my earlier Post) I knew Indian team will have to go past 300 to save their arse, simply because bowling department failed to deliver in this tournament. And given that Pakistan has quite good bowlers in their armory had made it worse.

I would admit that I was aghast when I saw Nehra and Munaf in bowling lineup instead of Ashwin and few others. My initial reaction was of the Lost soul, ready to nimble pieces of captain cool.

Nothing could have been worse than India stumbling again in the middle overs and No sachin to carry on the burden. The great Indian collapse had begun just like Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. As often captain cool stuck to singles without any heavy hitting and Raina kept his cool while the wickets tumbled on the other end. Finally we reached a score which seemed easy given our bowling attack.

But like India, its neighbour Pakistan is made of same steel and share same traits. In one word – UN-PREDICTABLE.

Nehra and Munaf did a splendid job controlling the Pakistani batsmen, who threw their wickets as if they were in a hurry to catch flight back to Islamabad. 5 bowlers scalping 2 wickets each. And the job was done. Nehra emerged out be the most economical of the lot with S.R. of 3.3, Still I feel the same about him. Should he be there in Final, I doubt.

Anyway, as soon as Zaheer got Misba ul haq caught, crackers buzzed off. Every nook and corner, every streets, people came out of their homes and congratulated others bursting crackers. Diwali & Eid at the same time. However they both came early this year.

Sachin was awarded “Man of the Match” for his knock of 85. Thanks Afridi for not letting the God complete his century, even he wanted this. Century can definitely wait for few matches [ I don’t mean to be rude. But yes, I’m bit superstitious here.]

April 2nd waits for another edition of Ramayana. India play against Sri Lanka at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

Have a nice day ahead!

India Vs England

Mahendra Singh Dhoni…

Captain of Indian Cricket Team. Batsman wicket keeper. He has some highest scores to his credit. ODI début in 2004 against Bangladesh.

That’s his profile says.

India played against England today in Bangalore. India scored 338 runs before being bowled out in 49.5 overs. Thanks to Sachin, Gautam and Yuvraj for shaping up the innings. And special thanks to Sehwaag for the wonderful start. Sachin completed his 97th century overall, and 47th in ODI format.

However things turned ugly when Sachin got out and Dhoni came to bat. Generally he is a hard hitter of the ball in any formats of the game, but off late he has forgotten how to hit sixes. Despite the fact, he still ranks in top 5 ODI batsman, I doubt the uncanny ability of the ranking methodology. Any way coming to the point, MSD came at no 5, which in no way was schedule. It was time for either Virat Kohli or Yusuf Pathan. But here comes MSD (eff off). And the result was, we fell short of some 10-15 runs. Later when Pathan and Kohli came, they didn’t have time to get set. They started off the hook and fell prey to tactics of English Bowlers.

England played extremely well. Andrew Strauss was phenomenal with his knock of 158 runs of 145 balls studded with 18 boundaries and a lone six. Ian Bell supported him well throughout the innings. Indian bowlers were mere spectators to the onslaught. Munaf struck well in the beginning and Zaheer’s wonderful spell brought India back into the game. But it was too late. English tail-enders finally wagged and England TIED the score.

It was the fourth instance in the world cup history and first time in this edition, where match was tied.

Who is at fault? Everyone knows. It need not be told. But one thing to say, This TIED match is gonna cost us. And MSD, cricket fans will remember your treachery.

Technically this match is tied, but morally India lost to England.

signing off…
